How interesting for the cast to do some detective work and figure out the true mysteries of the Robe.

Kate shows herself to be the most observant out of anyone again, which doesn't surprise me given her role in the series. Perhaps some secrets are best to remain secrets though...

The Shadows Research Team being found out, and I thought that both Kate and Emilico were in trouble...but instead, both Living Dolls and their Shadows Anna and their Shadows are quite taken aback at the coincidence.

The old shed right beside the Shadows House for the Research Team's new housing of experiments, it's definitely a much bigger area to work with for even bigger use cases of many experimental features and objects alike, that everything is of course, powered by soot. But this is also the place where Kate can also gather infodump about the mysterious entity that is Master Robe, and secrets that are only known to Star Bearers like Oliver. Most particularly, Emilico and the others have been given secret access, which contributes to Kate's investigation on the Star Bearers, as well as the Adults like Edward on that one particular culprit which can be eliminated by trial and error.

The Midnight Meeting of Peers between Shadows to figure out Master Robe's identity, and it being behind the phantom incident, and Kate is the only one who's very invested in this incident while the other Shadows...do their own rest thing. And it's in this where Kate learns the importance of having fun with friends, while not forcing friends like Louise and Patrick into their own problems.

This peer meeting though in its variable effectiveness, sure is effective at the end of the day after all.

While I'm glad that in this episode Kate begin to appreciate John, but it's still far from enough. John is such a good boy, madly fall in love, he's Kate's greatest asset.

I’m glad that Kate and the others weren’t in any danger when they discovered the research team’s little secret shed. Cliffhanger last week had me a little nervous.

Alright so Cristopher and Anthony are obviously pulling strings behind the scenes. Robed fella is probably Christopher. Oliver’s hesitancy to speak about it gives it away.

Kate finally starting to appreciate John more lol. He’s one of their best assets

Detective Kate on action, lets go! This show never seemed to lose track on its rail, this episode proved it. Oliver seems like a guy to hangout too, I adore people with pesonalities like him.

That little moment with the shadows were so cute lol, my favorite part of this episode.

Love how Oliver continues to say something is just a secret and then proceeds to give information (Anthony?). Guess some topics are still a no go for him though. Kate's opening up more to the group. It'd be interesting to see what their powers can do if they are combined.
Notice: I read most manga in Japanese now so I'm not sure where you can read in English. Sorry in advance.

I'm gonna write this right now:

Many people think the robed figure is Christofer. With this episode now some people think it might be Anthony (Christopher's living doll (?)), but my big guess is that the robed figure is no other than Maryrose.

yeah, that's right. just think about it: It would be WAAAAAAAY too obvious for the robed figure to be Christopher since they have been talking soo much about him and how he was called to the building with the adults. They are pointing towards Christopher/Anthony waaay too hard, which leads me to belive it is neither of them.

Now, think about Maryrose:
1. We still don't know what her soot powers are. So it is entirely possible that she can control the aparitions or even other people with it (like forcing the twins to destroy the bottle of coffee).
2. Rosemary (Maryrose's living doll) is the one who brough all those scorches to the main hall.
3. We have not seen or heard of Maryrose since even before the incident happened.
4. She is a pretty tall and gives the looks of a quite strong individual, so I believe she fits the physical description of the robed guy.
5. Just look at the ending. She has someting to do with Barbara. We still don't know what happened in the past between Christopher, Barbara and Maryrose, so there it that.

I'll put my money on Maryrose to be the robed figure.

We return to the laboratory.

Oliver considers Emilico a super living doll for being able to handle the pressure of a soot machine. Now that he mentioned. Where did she get that strength? She might secretly be a super strong living doll lol jk

It was nice to see the four Shadows bonding over touching each other's soot and making small sculptures with them.
Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load.

This episode introduced Shadows House' biggest enigma yet, and of course I'm referring to the mystery of Oliver' persona hygiene.
It still remains to be determined whether he regularly bathes or not.

Emilico is sure popular, the more keen eyed ones probably picked up now on why she has those physhical abilities. :P

Given how he avoided the topic the answer is probably "Well yes, but actually no." lol
I think it's not even answered in the manga yet.

Yes, the original work still hasn't addressed this oh-so-critical plot point, but we can still go ahead and make the assumption that Oliver's personal perfume must be incredibly good at masking bodily odors.

The little bit where emilico juggles is probably the cutest voice acting I heard this season outside of chisato from lycoris, also nice to see kate is noticing her personality issues.

Still wondering what's the deal with Oliver and his tendency of feeding people as if they were pets.

Chill episode overall. Good to see Kate being willing to open up more to others.

This episode starts introducing the research team led by Oliver and Ollie. The members are all eccentric. It surprised Emilico, Shaun, John and Kate. And team Kate finding some clues about the phantom incident. And guessing robe sama identity. And ones of the method is the perfume.

The second half is about the shadows masters Kate, John, Patrick and Louise meeting. Which they have bonded and some funny moments which good for their dynamic. Looks like they are gung ho about it, such a good ending. Overall build up but good episode

Lots of nice stuff to talk about this episode, from their meeting with the Research Team, Emiliko looking like a pet that's having fun from Olly's tests, Lydia being ruff as hell, and Oliver's tips and sugar...thank goodness it's used for tea and not coffee this time.

On the other side, after a very bad start in their meeting, Kate managed to cheer them up by making their own soot figurines (why did I use figurine jeez). And something that managed to surprise me is Kate making a tribute to Shirley, which actually worked on her favor. With the deed done and their bonds strengthen, Kate gathered up more allies for this hunt on Master Robe. I swear this buildup is not messing up my brain, just hoping for a very good payoff at the end.

I prefer Kate's personality before her changing any part of it.

Also, I feel as if I have this inkling or vague sense of it, but what exactly do other members of the audience here believe Kate was referring to in the scene toward the end in Patrick's chambers, when addressing John and mentioning that he sounded like Lydia (the shadow girl in charge of perfume distribution)? This was a subtle scene in presentation, but came off to me as very provocative.

No idea. That's anime-only iirc, probably trying to make a joke.

I don't watch as much anime as before...

Yay, now we have a masonic soot lodge created by Kate's newborn communication skills. I'm glad that she is not only making progress in talks and finding clues but also understands that to get maximum value shevneed to change her approach while speaking to different castes.

And now it's all the more obvious that Christopher is the Robed Doll responsible for the phantom incident, but who is this "Anthony" character and how does he fit into it? Also, I feel like Kate's realisation of her issue and immediate shift away from it was way too abrupt, not least because it feels like the first time she's ever thought about it all and people simply don't change that quickly or easily.

What was that comment about Patrick sounding like Lydia supposed to mean? Was it meant to be a joke, because he definitely doesn't vocally sound like her at all?

I'm almost positive that was a mistranslation. In the manga, iirc, it is Kate who is worried that she's "appearing more strict like Lydia." Glad to see I was not the only one who was confused by that line, but as a manga reader I knew something was off.

Even in the name of secrets I don't think there's anything left Oliver hasn't disclosed this episode lol. Now it's far more obvious who the robe guy is, anticipating the eventual confrontation in coming episodes.

Kate once again gained a few more allies.

Some of them are more in the neutral side and don't want to get involved with Kate's problem, but after they had some games and fun time together, they got close to each other, so I think they might start to help Kate more in the future.

Well at least Kate was able to get a key, so now it's Cristopher and other name but did they say what happened to him, and why they don't want to hear about him?, anyways It's just getting even better with more mystery I would say, also the ending tho Barbara and I think it's Maryrose.

Rum was mentioned near the end. I wonder if she'll ever get to reappear in this season.

Deeply invested in the lore Oliver had to share. Didn't care for the bonding over sootmen and found it to be a bit boring but nice to hear they still think of Shirely and Rumu.

I just love all the characters in this show. It's not often talked about enough how difficult it is to write child characters effectively. To have done so with such a large cast and to make them all likeable to boot is a major accomplishment.
